Transloading

Transloading involves the physical transfer of goods from one means or mode of transportation (i.e., truck, rail, air, ocean barge, or intermodal) to another.  

All Nexus warehouse facilities are served by major railroads and are equipped with a large volume of rail and truck dock doors to accommodate inbound product receipts. Nexus can receive product arriving in railcars, intermodal containers, and domestic trailers, and ship product out via almost any transportation mode required.

In the Chicago region, Nexus also provides transload services for “heavy” intermodal containers (containers weighing more than US roadway legal limits will allow). This is accomplished via our “Chicago Land Bridge”, a private roadway that directly connects the CSX Intermodal terminal in Bedford Park, IL to two Nexus warehouses.

Storage, crossdocking and value-added packaging services are also available in conjunction with transload services.

In addition to the physical unloading and loading of product that occurs at Nexus warehouse facilities, the Nexus Transportation team can coordinate and provide services utilzing the required transportation modes.
